Envirosoil / Dexter Construction is part of a large, diversified Company within the Municipal Group of Companies. We are currently accepting applications for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator at our facility located in Dartmouth, NS.

Job Summary :

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator will assist in the operation of the plant, production of materials and perform regular preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance.

The process involves working with plant controls, pumps, motors and gauges, off-loading trucks, transferring material, etc.

Training will be provided for the operation and maintenance of specific pieces of equipment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Smooth and optimum operation of the plant while ensuring compliance with safety standards of the company.
  • Perform all tasks related to start up and shutdown of the plant.
  • Ensure the plant is running effectively in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Safely offload trucks into tanks
  • Complete and maintain logs and reports
  • Troubleshoot and determine cause of process upsets
  • Maintain filters and filtration tanks
  • Read and interpret flow meters and other gauges to determine operating efficiency of equipment
  • Safely handle chemicals such as acids, bases, polymers, etc.
  • Keep safety at top of mind when completing all tasks

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience :

  • Safety orientated
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Proficiency with small tools
  • Able to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Time management and self-motivation
  • High School Education
  • Post Secondary or Trades degree is an asset
  • Familiarity with water treatment equipment would be an asset
