BACKPACK RIGHT-OF-WAY SPRAYER 2024 SEASON

Spectrum is seeking herbicide applicators for our 2024 Utility herbicide season.

Season begins in early June and ends in late August.

Essential Functions :

  • Broadcast and selective treatment of fast-growing tree species within powerline ROWs
  • Be an active participant in Spectrum’s safety system, attend tailgate meetings and complete required training
  • Wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain and respect your equipment
  • Follow the direction of the supervisor
  • Space off flagged boundaries and riparian areas
  • Waiting for ideal weather conditions
  • Work areas are assigned by the client over a large geographic region. Frequent travel is expected

Minimum Requirements :

  • The physical ability to perform in a demanding environment
  • The ability to carry 50+ pounds on your back
  • The repeated use of pumping arm and the repeated swing of spray arm
  • Ability to walk rapidly over debris on uneven terrain
  • The ability to work well individually and as part of a team
  • The ability to adapt quickly to changing conditions
  • Decision making skills
  • Willingness to work, enjoy, and live in a remote setting
  • Preparation for work in all weather conditions
  • Commitment to finishing the project; you will become an integral part of your team and mid-season substitutions are very challenging
  • A good work ethic, a positive attitude & willingness to contribute

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT :

  • Weather dependent work schedule.
  • Rates of 27.50$ / pack or fair hourly equivalent as needed
  • Training and mentorship
  • Hotel accommodations - kitchenettes are provided where available
  • Working with UTVs in remote / hard to access locations
  • Experienced Supervisors and Crew Leaders, drivers that are trained in-house through a resource road driver training program overseen by the BC Forest Safety Council.

All management and safety sensitive positions are deemed fit for duty through pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.

A proactive approach to safety and injury prevention.

EXPECT TO BRING :

  • Rubber caulked boots (ask for specifics before purchasing)
  • Clothes for all weather conditions (safety coveralls will be required and provided)
  • Wide brimmed hat

  • Drinking water (minimum 2L per day)
