THE ROLE

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Tool and Die Maker for a custom machine shop located in St Catharines. The Tool and Die Maker will be responsible for custom builds specializing in tooling, gauges, fixtures and short-run, high-precision parts and assisting with assembly of complex products.

RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics, and CAD drawings
• Visualizing and computing metal shapes and tolerances
• Designing jigs and templates as work aids in the fabrication of parts
• Measuring and marking metal stock for machining
• Programming machines and utilizing CAD and MasterCam
• Setting up machine tools such as drills, lathes, grinders, and milling machines (both manual and automatic)
• Cutting and shaping blocks to specified dimensions
• Filling, grinding, and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish
• Fitting and assembling tools and die parts
• Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness, and contour deformities
• Troubleshooting metal stamping dies to meet customer and quality expectations
• Assembly of complex products

REQUIREMENTS :

• 4-6 years of experience as a Tool and Die Maker or similar position
• Highschool diploma or equivalent
• Journeyman's card or equivalent education
• Previous experience with CAD and Master Cam programming
