REMCAN is currently looking for a full-time Shipper / Receiver / Parts Purchaser at our Prince George, BC location.

The primary role of the Shipper / Receiver / Parts Purchaser is to support the Supply Chain and Mechanical teams by maintaining, ordering and shipping inventory and supplies for the field and office staff.

The Shipper / Receiver / Parts Purchaser reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager.

Who we are looking for :

The Shipping / Receiving Parts Purchaser must have shipping / receiving experience as well as experience with purchasing commercial parts.

They must be proficient with computers and Office programs and have exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills.

Previous forklift experience is an asset. Technical mechanical knowledge or railway experience is an asset.

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Purchasing various supplies for the Mechanical department
  • Shipping / Receiving within the Prince George location following process requirements
  • Ensuring minimal downtime in the field due to stock shortages or shortage of inventory
  • Maintaining standard inventory levels and lists through cycle counting
  • Working closely with other Supply Chain members on immediate field supply requests, office requirements and inventory shortages
  • Working closely with the Supply Chain Manager for supply chain process review and improvement where required
  • Managing building maintenance vendors within the Prince George facility
  • Updating receiving details when a delivery is complete
  • Matching up orders for invoicing
  • Providing concise communication to stake holders when needed
  • Regular communication with suppliers to build a strong customer relationship
  • Checking in daily with the vendors of open purchase orders to ensure orders arrive on time, with 100% follow through
  • Performing supply cost reviews monthly and creating alternate supplier lists if required
  • Ensure the Min / Max are set correctly on mechanical parts and communicate with Supply Chain Manager

Previous experience with shipping and receiving and parts purchasing

  • Proficient with computers and MS Office programs
  • Exceptional analytical, planning, problem solving, and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment, managing day-to-day work priorities and successfully meeting deadlines
  • Ability to lift 50lbs repeatedly during the work day
  • Ability to operate a forklift is considered an asset
  • Some technical mechanical knowledge is an asset
  • Must be able to work within our safety rules, regulations and guidelines
  • Experience in the rail industry or experience with railway equipment is an asset
