Security Guard - Commercial Casual - Ottawa Region

Position : Casual Security Guard

Site : Various

Hours : Various 4, 8, and 12 hours shifts

Overtime Method : Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

Payrate(s) : Minimum $18.00 / hours (base rate)

Note : All casual security guards have their base payrate set to minimum wage ($18.00 / hour), however you are paid based on which is higher : your base payrate, or the site payrate.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities :

• Provide exceptional customer service and assistance and sustain effective relationships with clients and patrons
• Conduct proactive patrols to ensure safety and address policy breaches, and note any concerns
• Attend and investigate security alarms and emergencies in a timely and professional manner
• De-escalate crisis situations, provide support and liaise with emergency personnel including police, fire and paramedic resources
• Exercise crowd control and evict trespassers
• Write clear and detailed reports including incident, emergency, liability and day to day reports
• Provide first aid and medical response when required to any person(s)
• Utilize two-way radios and computer applications to communicate site activities

Job Requirements

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Management of Aggressive Behaviour and Use of Force Certification
• Paladin Security is willing to offer this certification on a commitment contract (minimum of six (6) months) for new hires upon Onboarding
• Paladin provides an opt-in certification program for applicants who are not currently certified prior to your Paladin onboarding.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong observational skills
• Ability to walk 15 - 20 km and use stairs in single shift
• Proof of (minimum) double COVID-19 vaccination preferred
• Bilingualism (English and French) is considered an asset
• 6+ months of security experience preferred
• 6+ months of customer service experience preferred
