As a Facial Rigger, you will be responsible for ensuring the technical and creative success of all rigging requirements of the production, while respecting the established overall look of the show.

What you'll be doing :

  • Deliver artistic expectations of facial rigs dictated by the Design leadership and the Animation department
  • Construct 3D character facial rigs and animation interfaces and controls for assigned characters and props
  • Define and streamline CG character face rigging workflows, pipelines and processes, developing tools and frameworks for CG characters and other related assets
  • Troubleshoot and evaluate character-rigging issues for artists within various disciplines
  • Keep current on pipeline techniques and technology
  • Proactively communicate and collaborate across teams
  • Ensure alignment with project leads for technical and aesthetic goals
  • Meet and maintain project deadlines consistently

What you'll bring :

  • 5+ years production experience in the animation, film and or game industry, ideally on a fully animated or hybrid feature film
  • Post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in 3D Animation, VFX or related
  • In-depth knowledge of FACS (or equivalent system) and a strong understanding of facial anatomy.
  • Solid skills in Python programming, coupled with the ability to adhere to established coding conventions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of anatomy and muscle dynamics, particularly as they relate to facial expressions.
  • Excellent communication and collaborative skills
  • Excellent visual skills and attention to detail and aesthetic nuances of body and face deformations
  • Ability to receive creative direction and feedback
  • Be willing to share knowledge and experience with others

Location : BC or Quebec

Start date : November 2024

Salary Range CAD $1,500 - $2,200 / week. The Salary Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position.

The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position.

In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.
