Recycling & Waste Attendant (Evening Shift)
Port Kells, BC Full-time $22.50 / hour

Emterra operates four ofthe larger Metro Vancouver Recycling and Waste Centres that are locatedthroughout the Lower Mainland.
These facilities receive large volumes ofwaste that is consolidated and shipped to various destinations in NorthAmerica.
Each facility contains comprehensive recycling depots that divertmaterials away from disposal and into the green economy.
The Recycling and WasteCentre Attendant is part of a team that provides recycling options for a vastarray of materials. In addition, Attendants provide direction to the generalpublic and commercial traffic in order for them to navigate the facility in asafe manner while properly recycling or disposing of their materials.
Schedule : Monday to Friday 5 : 00pm to 1 : 30am
What will you do?
- Bring the ability towork safely mainly within a team environment.
- Participate in trainingin order to complete the required tasks of the role
- Provide essentialrecycling services and knowledge to the community in which the facility serves.
- Under the direction ofthe Site Supervisor, be part of a team that ensures the Recycling and WasteCentre meets all requirements from Metro Vancouver, regulatory bodies andCompany expectations;
- Load Truck and clean andservice the compactors and insuring the sites are clear.
- Ensure outbound solidwaste and recyclable materials, meet disposal / recycle facility specifications
- Work with the SiteSupervisor and the rest of the crew to monitor and manage onsite inventories ofall materials in order to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatoryrequirements;
- Provide excellentcommunication to the customers that utilize the facility, which includes thegeneral public and commercial customers alike.
This may include traffic controlat the site.
- Help train newly hiredpersonnel on operations, specifications for outbound materials and safetyprocedures;
- Provide recommendationsto improve efficiency, service levels and safety;
- Perform other duties asassigned.
Whatwill you bring?
- Minimum 2-3 yearsprevious experience in a role preferably in a customer service-orientedenvironment;
- Experience operating the compactor and forklift is anasset;
- The ability to workmainly outside either in the recycling depots or in and around the transferstation building.
- A passion to be involvedin the green economy, and to provide an essential service to the communities inwhich we reside.
- A safe approach to alltasks and aspects of the job is a must.
- Must be pro-active andwilling to learn;
- Must have good interpersonalskills, both verbal and written;
- A friendly personalitycombined with a roll-up your sleeves and get it done attitude!
- A good sense of humouris considered an asset and is necessary.
