0 Status : Permanent About the Role CASA House is a live-in program for teens who need support with significant mental health and / or addictions challenges.
Teens stay at CASA House for an average of four months. The program involves parents and caregivers as active participants in treatment.
Treatment includes individual, group and family therapy, social and life skills training, and on-site schooling in small classroom settings .
The Recreation Coordinator will : Ensure adolescents are involved in meaningful recreational activities. Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members to ensure the day-to-day unit operations are delivered.
Provide guidance, support, supervision and case management to adolescents and their families in the program . Effectively liaise with resources in the community while also representing CASA Mental Health in a professional manner.
Maintain and track recreation budget. Report patient safety events which could have or did cause patient harm. Strive to improve practice and procedures in order to improve service outcomes and patient safety.
Lead by example in the area of occupational health and safety. Contribute to staff knowledge and understanding of discipline-specific issues.
Qualifications Diploma or degree in child and youth care, Bachelor of Social Work, or Bachelor of Arts, or Bachelor of Science (Psychology).
Previous experience working in children ’ s mental health. Fluent in case management and supportive counselling for adolescents and their families.
Clinically effective in rapport building with adolescents and their families. Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team.
Positive and energetic demeanour. Conditions of Employment A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check.
This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate. Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
