This role is based at the Guelph YMCA location.

What you will do

You will engage with children and youth in a vibrant day camp setting by fostering the development of positive relationships, teaching new skills, and encouraging a connection with nature.

Your work adheres to Ontario Camping Association Standards, and YMCA Camping Quality Recommended Practices to support quality excellence.

Furthermore, in this role you will :

  • Ensure that campers are always well-supervised and interacting safely.
  • Deliver fun and engaging fun activities by following program plans.
  • Participate enthusiastically in all camp programs with your camper group, including recreational swimming.
  • Work to build positive relationships with all campers; being the role model they need.
  • Respond to camper needs and concerns in a positive, professional, and empathetic manner.
  • Provide exceptional attention to Health & Safety.
  • Attend all staff trainings and meetings, arrive on time, and actively participate and contribute to the development of your team.

What you will bring

Ideally, you will bring some experience working with children and youth. You are committed to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to diverse needs.

You have well-developed interpersonal and relationship building skills; the ability to use good judgement and problem-solve;

and strong professional conduct. You have up-to-date Standard First Aid with CPR-C certification and successful completion of Police Vulnerable Sector Check within the last 6 months.
