SUMMARY :

The role is responsible for the work assignment of all hourly production staff on their assigned shift. The incumbent also directs and manages certain indirect staff on the shift in Skilled Trades, Quality and Logistics departments.

The Production Supervisor is on a 3-shift rotation (rotation every 2 weeks).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Provide input on relevant issues to the Leaders , to ensure that issues on off shifts are communicated and acted upon as required.
  • Set priorities for tasks in skilled trades area based on plant issues, required PM (Preventative Maintenance) and customer demands.
  • Analyze and manage performance measurements (production, scrap, downtime, rework, utilization, on a plant wide basis.
  • Ensure all customer quality requirements are met and take appropriate actions in the event of an issue, including but not limited to, line / tool repairs, rework, containment, management notification and escalation per MAHLE procedures.
  • Provide necessary guidance and training to employees in areas of labour relations, quality, production metrics, equipment and facilities.
  • Participate and lead in the execution of tasks and initiatives for annual Goals and Objectives, Lean Manufacturing Visual Factory, : best in Class and Housekeeping, or as defined by management.
  • Ensure appropriate daily, weekly, and monthly communication with plant associates is completed.
  • Participate and ensure daily, weekly and monthly audits are completed for all lines and the facility.
  • Provide input to the leaders relative to training that is required for employees to improve their skill set and assist in the scheduling and administering of training.
  • Estimate personnel needs and assigns work to meet completion dates in accordance with schedules fixed by higher supervision and subject to higher approval.
  • Implement, promote and enforce organizational policies and assures adherence to department procedures in the areas of Health & Safety, Quality, Labour Relations, Human Rights, etc.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for assigned employees, monitor work performance and provide counseling / administration of discipline to employees to improve performance.
  • Supervisory Duties : (1) Orientate, train, mentor, supervise, coordinate, and provide leadership to and review the work of assigned employees.

2) Direct and manage indirect staff in skilled trades, quality, stockroom, shipping and receiving areas.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Preferred technological diploma from a Community College and 3-5 years manufacturing and / or engineering experience.
  • Supervisory experience in a unionized environment preferred.
  • Technical experience in molding, automated assembly, and equipment troubleshooting / repair. Plastic injection exp. a plus.
  • Proficient with MS office.
  • SAP Hana experience considered an asset.
  • Multi-tasking, troubleshooting and conflict management skills preferred.
