About

What you’ll do :

You will be responsible for delivering legendary service to make all guests of our Co-op feel at home here through :

Harvest, clean and package fresh produce. Complete regular operating tasks in the farm, including seeding, transplanting and regular cleaning and maintenance.

Deliver produce when required.

  • Assist with implementing strategies to improve produce sales and actively be involved in marketing efforts such as promoting food production and good eating habits by arranging in-store sampling.
  • As you become more familiar with the technology, you may be asked to aid in identifying or troubleshooting issues that may arise, including of a mechanical or horticultural nature.
  • Maintain appropriate records including markdown reports and growing / harvest records.

Who you are :

You are excited to expand your skills by learning new technologies and food production systems. Also :

  • Experienced with growing vegetables or other plants (even at home!).
  • Comfortable with technology, such as Google & Microsoft Office suites, and iPads / Windows computers.
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Have a high level of enthusiasm and strong commitment to learning.
  • Mechanically inclined and enjoy working with tools and technology.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented.
  • Certificate or degree in agriculture, horticulture or related field an asset.
  • You are willing to work all shifts scheduled including days, evenings, holidays and weekends.
  • Maintain good physical condition, physically able to do heavy lifting of 50 lbs, climb ladders, kneel, and work full shifts on feet.
  • Possess a valid Class 5 Driver licence and maintain a valid licence throughout employment.

Candidates do not need experience in a hydroponic or commercial farm. This role will offer on-the-job and formal training opportunities to build your skills and learn the ropes of hydroponic food production.

We are simply looking for candidates who are driven, hard-working, and are willing to learn quickly. Having a green thumb and a passion for food are of course a welcome bonus!
