About
Responsibilities
Run press to produce quality stamped parts using safe work practices.
Check and ensure the quality of stamped products from press. Sort or rework as required.
Complete associated paperwork / documentation.
Handle materials at end of press, assuring that customer specified standard packs and bins are used.
Keep work area clean and organized, including equipment, controller, fixtures and surrounding floor space.
Ensure a housekeeping audit of the press area and equipment is completed at the beginning of each shift.
Set up and operate press machine to produce specific automotive components.
Check product for correct shapes, dimensions and other specifications outlined by the customer. Clean and lubricate equipment.
Responsible for low scrap levels.
Check parts coming off press using checking fixtures.
Set up preparation including cleaning the bolster and removing scrap chute.
Work on hand transfer dies.
Ensure and maintain a tidy and organized work space.
Adhere to all obligations and requirements under Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Adhere to all obligations and duties outlined in the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.
Work in compliance with IATF 16949, 5S, and all other company policies and procedures.
Attend and participate in all required meetings and ensure the timely communication of information to all other team members.
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all company tooling, processes, methods, customer and supplier information and business.
Keep abreast of, informing management of new technologies and methods.
Perform other duties as required by Management.
Qualifications :
Prior work experience operating metal stamping presses.
Familiarity with tag out / lock out procedures.
Good understanding and knowledge of press shop equipment.
Ability to collect and enter data on in-process inspection sheets.
Well developed understanding of the use of gauge and checking fixtures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent English skills both oral and written.
