Role Overview :

Our firm is currently recruiting for a Practice Innovation Assistant to join our team for a 6-Month contract, reporting to the Team Lead, Practice Innovation.

The Practice Innovation team assesses, pilots and implements specialized staffing models, streamlined workflows and the most current legal technology to improve both the quality and timeliness of our legal advice and related services.

The ideal candidate is personable, innovative, keen, flexible, reliable and efficient with a strong work ethic and excellent problem-solving skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Developing and automating legal and other documents and related workflows, in partnership with the Practice Innovation team, lawyers, and law clerks / paralegals who possess subject matter expertise.
  • Preparing, editing, and proofreading legal and other documents.
  • Supporting the management and processing of due diligence and other related data extraction projects, in partnership with lawyers, associates, and articling students.
  • Supporting the management and processing of transaction-related workflows to ensure accurate and timely completion of work, including distribution of signature packages and compilation of closing documents.
  • Assisting with the evaluation and implementation of improved processes and related technology.
  • Reviewing usage reports and performing data analytics to support adoption and expansion of improved processes and related technology.
  • Supporting the development of policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Supporting the demonstration of and training on improved processes and related technology.
  • Providing administrative support on a variety of projects and processes, as required and as requested.

The successful candidate must have the following education, experience and / or demonstrated skills :

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience within the legal industry is an asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Technically strong with internet applications and generally comfortable using similar tools & technology.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in process improvement and using tech tools to create efficiency.
  • Experience working with Contract Express, Closing Folders, HighQ or Kira is an asset.
  • Outstanding problem-solving, logical thinking, and critical reasoning skills; ability to arrange information in a logical order.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong ability to work under pressure, find creative solutions, and be adaptable to changing situations with ease.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and exhibit sound judgment.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision as well as working effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Professionalism, maturity, diplomacy, and tact are essential.
  • Demonstrate high level of integrity and ethics at all times.

Employment Type : Fixed-Term (6-Month Contract)
