Plant Maintenance Technician

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Use observation during maintenance inspections and repairs to ensure employees use safe practices when operating equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.
- Adjusting, doing inspections, and keeping records of work that has been completed.
- Reading blueprints / schematics and equipment manuals, using inspection and repair schedules, rebuilding broken machines and training staff members on proper use of equipment.
- Assemble, dismantle, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.
- Use tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.
- Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery.
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
- Evaluating Information to Determine Compliance with Standards using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.
- Servicing, repairing, calibrating, regulating, fine-tuning, or testing machines, devices, and equipment that operate primarily based on electrical or electronic (not mechanical) principles.
- Establishing and Maintaining Interpersonal Relationship, developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintaining them over time.
- Adhere to safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE ·You will be responsible for developing (if you do not already possess it) an understanding of all our equipment to ensure it daily operation and minimize downtime.
SKILLS REQUIRED
- Attention to Detail -Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks.
- Adaptability / Flexibility- Job requires being open to change (positive or negative) and to considerable variety in the workplace.
- The successful candidate will also have the ability to read wiring diagrams and troubleshoot problems with electrical, refrigerant, and duct systems on HVAC equipment.
- Certificates, licenses of Forklift License, Overhead Crane, WHMIS, Emergency Procedures and Evacuation, PPE is added advantage.
- Able to communicate with all workers regardless of barriers and be able to communicate in written and spoken English.
- Operation and Control- Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Must possess above average math skills and be able to utilize a tape measure efficiently and be able to visualize calculations.
- Ability to read mechanical, electrical and control drawings; knowledge of building automation systems, life safety systems, electrical systems and HVAC including boilers, chillers, pumps, motors, heat exchanger, AHU etc.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and against strict time constraints.
