Role Summary :

Our client is a leading provider of seedlings across North America, operating a diverse network of nurseries in Canada and the United States.

We are currently seeking a Payroll Specialist with experience in UKG to join their team for a contract-to-hire opportunity.

The Opportunity :

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for processing payroll for up to 1000 unionized employees across the US and Canada, ensuring compliance with regulations and accurate payment for regular hours, overtime, and other compensations.

This role will also involve supporting the implementation of UKG and ongoing projects related to payroll.

Success Criteria & Deliverables :

• Process payroll accurately and on time for up to 1000 unionized employees in Canada and US
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and provincial regulations
• Reconcile time and attendance data and verify the accuracy of payments
• Manage employee payroll records and tax filings
• Provide exceptional customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries and issues
• Support the implementation of UKG and other ongoing projects related to payroll
• Collaborate with IT and HR teams to optimize the UKG system for payroll processing needs
• Manage payroll accounting and reconciliations
• Process source deductions and remittances

What We Need From You :

• Expertise in using the UKG Payroll System, preferably with experience in process re-engineering and implementation.
• Experience in multi-state Canadian and US Unionized payroll
• Experience with manual payroll processing and time & attendance
• Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
• Comfortable working through change and process development.
