THE ROLE :

As a key member of the PETRONAS Canada Payroll team, you will play a pivotal role in the smooth execution of day-to-day payroll activities.

This includes ensuring payrolls are processed timely, accurately and in compliance with government regulations as well as ensuring all records and documentation are maintained and updated.

As a valuable member of our small, high-performing team, you will be a subject matter expert to other cross functional departments and employees ensuring quality service and timely resolution of issues.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE :

  • Prepare and administer the Canadian semi-monthly payrolls for approximately 550 hourly and salaried employees located in Alberta and BC
  • Investigate and resolve employee inquiries regarding pay, benefits, tax, and statutory deductions in a timely manner
  • Act as a subject matter expert to other cross-functional departments, ensuring timely resolution of issues and identifying efficiencies within the payroll function
  • Ensure the organizations compliance with ongoing and complex taxation, including the accurate assessment of taxable benefits and year end reporting for T4s
  • Audit, reconcile and maintain data integrity in Workday
  • Manage Workday benefit administration, including savings plan, new hire enrollments, employee changes and terminations

WHAT YOU BRING :

  • 10 years of related experience in payroll
  • Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification
  • Experience with automated payroll systems, preferably Workday
  • Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP, PivotTables, SUMIFS, and INDEX-MATCH
  • Strong system and data flow knowledge, with the ability to learn and adapt to new processes
  • Initiative to explore system capabilities and leverage technology to simplify internal processes and minimize manual work
  • Ability to effectively investigate and solve technological issues related to payroll processing, demonstrating strong attention to detail
  • Proven track record of innovative thinking and ability to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven organizational and time management skills, with a track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse groups and effectively engage others in support of projects and initiatives
