About

Innophos Canada Inc. is looking for candidates to operate and maintain an industrial bag packing machine, palletizer, sacking, pneumatic conveying and blending equipment in a chemical plant.

The Packer will maintain processes and make necessary adjustments adhering to all prescribed quality, product, safety and environmental standards set out by the company and regulatory agencies.

Education / Experience

Must have completed post-secondary education and / or equivalent experience in one or more of the following areas of study preferred

  • Mechanical
  • Chemical
  • Chemistry
  • Quality
  • Electrical
  • Technical

Additional experience and desired skills

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably chemical or food
  • Background in mechanical trades is preferred
  • Forklift license / previous experience is preferred
  • Solid computer skills are an asset
  • Attention to detail

Responsibilities / Requirements

  • Receive daily instruction from the Lead hand and Production Manager through personal contact, email, and daily instruction log
  • Ensure adequate sampling and testing are completed and documented to ensure a high standard of quality control for finished products
  • Operate the packaging and sack filling processes according to established operating procedures including the adjustment of bag weights, heat sealers, routing forklift checks and maintenance, calibration of metal detectors
  • Ensure the operations are run efficiently and within specification including bag weights and pallet appearance
  • Complete lock-out-tag-outs for the area
  • Input Work Orders into the system
  • Inspect, clean and wash production / process equipment
  • Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines, using panel boards, control boards, or semi-automatic or full-automatic equipment
  • Monitor instruments to ensure proper production conditions
  • Test chemical or physical characteristics of materials or products. Collect samples of materials or products for testing
  • Adjust equipment controls to regulate the flow of production materials or products
  • Confer with others to resolve production problems or equipment malfunctions
  • Notify others of equipment repair or maintenance needs
  • Communicate with Millwrights, Electricians, Supervision
  • Adhere to all quality and safety policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in Good Manufacturing Practices by maintaining cleanliness throughout the facility and performing general housekeeping duties as required
  • Participate in meetings and committees as required
  • Other miscellaneous duties as required.
