Responsibilities
- To answer calls as promptly as possible to make repairs to maintain mill flow with all regards to safety. In situations requiring assistance, contact Supervisor, electrician or another maintenance crew member.
- The time periods between should be spent repairing cylinders, valves and other related equipment in the millwright shop.
- Additional spare time is to be utilized performing tasks associated with the preventative maintenance program. Problem areas need to be noted and forwarded for further examination and repair.
- Periodically, work orders may be issued for minor repairs throughout the mill.
- In situations of major breakdown, where the mill is unable to function, the millwright will be expected to assist in the necessary repairs.
- The production supervisor may also issue requests relating to correcting safety deficiencies if they can be completed with the manpower and resources available on shift.
Qualifications
- Journeyman Millwright Certification
- 3-5 years of millwright in a manufacturing environment experience
- Previous experience in a Saw Mill or heavy industry preferred
- Ability to read blue prints, plans and schematics;
- Strong problem solving skills
- Commitment to working safely coupled with strong communication & interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
- First Aid Certificate would be an asset
