Due to the growth of our business, we have opening for a Production Assistant position in our Metal Shop.

Job Type : Full-Time Permanent

Responsibilities and Duties :

Perform work based on general written / verbal manufacturing instructions.

Operate metal cleaning equipment to remove excess welds, rust, scale, and other material from the surfaces of the metal products.

Assist welders / fitters, painters and shipper / receiver, sheet metal workers and metal machine operators.

Cut, grind or chip metal using hand tools.

Load / Unload and move raw material and metal fining products as required.

Sort metal sheets, scrap metal and other material.

Notifies the lead hand and / or supervisor(s) of product defects or other serious occurrences.

Performs equipment operational checks.

Demonstrates good housekeeping by maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Show a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Ensure company policies and procedures are consistently followed.

Maintain cordial relationships with colleagues and supervisors.

Complete shop records accurately

Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

High school diploma or Equivalent education

No experience required; training provided

Ability to communicate in English (spoken, read and write)

Ability to handle up to 25 KG weight.

Ability to handle Grinders and Hand Tools

Be able to stand for extended periods, able to climb ladders, bend, stoop, kneel and lift medium to heavy objects.

PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) must be worn as recommended. This includes wearing CSA green patch leather C / W always covered laces safety shoes.

Forklift and / or overhead crane operation experience. Forklift or overhead crane license or valid driving license is an asset.

Good eyesight & hand-eye coordination

Willing to do multi tasks when needed as member of the team.

Must be a good team player and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Hours : Monday to Thursday 7 : 00 am to 4 : 00 pm, Friday 7 : 00 am to 1 : 30 pm

Afternoon Shift : Monday to Thursday 4 : 00 pm to 2 : 30 am
