Objective
Improve the efficiency and productivity of maintenance own personnel and third party maintenance services through good planning, follow up and optimization of all preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
The objective is to achieve the set targets for equipment Performance, NAI, MTBF, PRI at the lowest optimum and sustainable maintenance cost, in collaboration with all involved departments, following the maintenance guidelines
Responsibilities
Safety :
- Guarantee compliance with OH&S and environment policies for Maintenance personnel.
- Establish safety culture and tackle specific actions to ensure health and safety prevention during maintenance activities.
- Contribute to plant housekeeping and cleanliness.
- Serve as a role model in the areas of safety, environmental stewardship, leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and continuous improvement to ensure alignment with the company’s vision and critical success factors.
Environmental Considerations :
In consultation with the Environmental Manager, ensure that all regulatory requirements associated with the carrying out of operational duties are completed as required by the relevant regulation, certificate, or permit.
Maintenance Planning :
- Planning and scheduling of all corrective and preventive maintenance routines in SAP PM / DMS together with the specific execution responsibly.
- The Maintenance Planner is responsible for the WO flow from the creation, planning to the scheduling stage (1-4) and confirmation follow up.
- The maintenance planner must TECO all completed WOs on weekly basis.
- In coordination with other departments, generates the detailed weekly and daily plans as well as the 13-week basic plan.
- In conjunction with the Maintenance Inspectors, prioritizes the notifications and generates corrective work orders with a clear scope of work.
- Coordinates resources (parts, manpower, tools, rental equipment, equipment down time, etc.) to ensure the planned and scheduled jobs are carried out smoothly.
- Creates clear and detailed scope of work for RFQs for bidding purposes. In conjunction with the Maintenance Manager and / or Maintenance Coordinators review the quotes.
- Generates PRs from WOs as required, and approve invoices after job completion.
MMS (SAP) :
- Continuously Updates BOM for existing or new equipment.
- Assigns Functional, Equipment number and criticality etc. to new equipment.
- Creates new stock items and request safety stocks as per Maintenance Manager Guidelines.
- Coordinates with stores safety stock and Min / Max Levels for stock items.
Cost Control :
- Ensures all planned WOs includes all the required costs (parts, own labor, TPS, rentals, etc.) before they are scheduled.
- Runs a weekly Actual Cost Report showing any deviation from the Weekly Planned Cost.
Shutdown Planning :
- Responsible for the implementation and follow up of each one of the stages of the shutdown PMA.
- Plan all SDB and MINI Work Orders as soon as possible to be ready for a short kiln shutdown.
- Leads the preparation and consolidation of the shutdown plan (personal, third party services, materials, spare parts, equipment, tools, time, and critical path) for all departments with coordination meetings using Lafarge planning guidelines and tools.
- Prepares the shutdown budget based on approved scope of work. Coordinates and leads pre-shutdown meetings with plant stakeholders.
- Monitors the realization of the maintenance plans and follow-up tasks defined in major shutdowns on a daily frequency.
- Plans all outage work orders by assigning the required parts, tools, procedures, drawings, and outside resources to the work.
- Leads the daily shutdown meeting, tracks and reports daily the shutdown schedule progress and the costs
Goal Setting :
- Assists in setting department objectives and in the development and execution of the annual maintenance budget.
- Writes detailed scopes of work for all major work, including shutdown activities.
- Tracks maintenance costs daily and parts cost for all major projects and shutdowns.
Innovation and Continuous Improvement :
- Ensure the tracking of performance indicators and achieved results.
- Provide regular reports and updates to the plant, local / regional bodies as required.
- Coordinates meetings with suppliers to stay updated on new tools and techniques available to optimize / facilitate the job execution.
- Leads After Action Review (AAR) for shutdown or major shutdowns.
Relationship with Others :
- Reports to the Preventive Maintenance Coordinator
- Works Independently and in small teams of laborers / contractors
- Supervises / Coordinates contractors and laborers to perform specific tasks
- Works with Electrical Coordinator; Production Managers and Supervisors; Process / Quality department; and Projects team
Specific Accountabilities :
- Plans, reviews and optimizes SAP PM and DMS including all the PM01 corrective and PM02 preventive routines establishing tasks, frequencies and workload balancing.
- Maintenance KPIs : Aging Notification, Aging WOs, Schedule Ratio, Planning Accuracy
- Plant KPIs : MTBF (Maintenance Related Incidents), NAI (Maintenance Planned and unplanned stopages)
- Schedules weekly and daily maintenance work, 13 weeks out and for major outages
- Consolidates the details of major repairs. Leads the major shutdown meetings and AAR
- Prioritizes and generates preventive and corrective maintenance orders based on the results of equipment monitoring. Prioritizes with other departments preventive and corrective maintenance orders
- Revises notifications, workload, defines the needs of third party services. Tracks the purchase requests and services of major shutdown / repairs and ensures their on-time arrival
- Generates and enters follow up purchase requests for materials, spare and wear parts, ensuring just in time delivery and optimization of Net Working Capital (NWC)
- Completes good quality reports and spends appropriate time in the field to monitor safety and performance of plant mechanics and Contractors.
- Achieves personal and departmental goals
- Participates in the plant On-Call system
- Inform and control the weekly planned costs (Material , Services , Wear parts )
- Define a cost control strategy on weekly basis for TPS

Qualification Profile
Education and Work Experience :
- Mechanical Engineering Technologist, or equivalent field experience
- Extensive experience in heavy equipment repair; experience in inspection is an asset
- Proven experience in planning major work and plant shutdowns using computer software
- Experience with Computerized Mechanical Maintenance System (SAP)
Preferred skills :
- Knowledge of problem solving techniques (i.e. Pareto Analysis, Root Cause Failure Analysis, etc.)
- Strong computer skills
- Strong communicator (both oral & written)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to interact with plant personnel
- Highly motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision
