Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Logistics Specialist to join our team. This role will be integral to the central planning and coordination of hundreds of delivery routes across Canada for all Goodfood members.
As a Specialist, you will act as a resourceful and confident team player who can think out of the box in an ambiguous problem space.
This mission-critical role requires balancing technical skills, planning, and operational execution in a highly demanding environment.
A successful candidate will be willing to roll up their sleeves to support a rapidly growing business unit that is significantly impacting Goodfood’s last-mile delivery capabilities.
Mandatory 2-3 weeks training - Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Thursday (11 pm to 9 am )*
Schedule :
Monday - 6 am to 2 pm
Wednesday - 6 am to 2 pm
Thursday - 6 am to 2 pm
Friday - 6 am to 2 pm
Sunday - 6 am to 2 pm
Here are the responsibilities of this role :
- Planning vehicle workloads and pickup schedule required in every delivery market based on order demand
- Planning cost and time optimized routes for subscription-based and same-day orders across the country to ensure excellent member delivery experience
- Coordinating the on-time loading and departure of hundreds of delivery vehicles per day across Canada as the primary contact for Field Operations Teams
- Monitoring and resolving all on-the-road exceptions; including reassignments as necessary
- Identifying and assisting in the elimination of the root causes of route inefficiencies, capacity constraints, and route cancellations
- Acting as the subject matter expert for Goodfood's on-the-road courier operations network and the geographical distribution of every order
- Ensuring the integrity of data in our delivery systems of record so that cost and quality outcomes can be accurately measured
- Supporting continuous improvement of daily operations with your direct team and providing constructive feedback to Field Operations Team on a regular basis
Warehouse operations and staff management :
- Assist in supervising and managing warehouse workers, sorters, and other support staff
- Coordinate and oversee daily warehouse operations, including shipping and receiving, inventory management, and order fulfillment
- Develop and implement strategies to improve warehouse efficiency, productivity, and safety
- Monitor and analyze warehouse performance metrics, including inventory levels, and quality
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in logistics or supply chain management
- Experience in food / warehouse settings is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Google Sheets, Microsoft Excel, and other Google documents.
- Leadership experience managing employees.
- Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- They are comfortable working a non-standard schedule and would be able to work as required to support the critical business operations including weekends and holidays
