Job Description

You will be partnered with a highly-skilled preceptor at any of our hospital sites. Upon successful completion of your practice hours and subsequent proof of registration with the CNO in the RN category, you will have the opportunity to transition into a full-time RN position on our Nursing Resource Team.

The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) describes a group of uniquely-trained nurses who work in a variety of clinical areas in response to needs from the clinical areas related to short term absences or changes in acuity or volume.

The NRT is a group of RN’s and RPN’s deployed to in-patient departments at any of our 3 sites (OTMH, MDH, and GH). Members of the Nursing Resource Team have the opportunity to be trained in specialty areas when needed such as ICU, ED, and Post-partum.

This exposure to various clinical areas will offer you a great learning experience!

Qualifications

  • must be registered in the non-practicing Registered Nurse (RN) class
  • have their SPE approved by the CNO before commencing the experience
  • hold professional liability protection according to the CNO's by-laws
  • practice under the supervision of a nurse in the appropriate category or class of registration
  • successfully complete the program within 6 months
  • successfully complete a minimum of 140 hours where you will apply your nursing knowledge, skill and judgement and demonstrate an understanding of your nursing accountabilities (CNO practice standards).
  • Be available to work in an in-patient unit at any of our 3 hospital sites - Oakville, Milton, Georgetown

Once you complete your supervised practice experience with an assigned preceptor, you will be evaluated using a CNO approved tool where we will confirm that you’ve met the program requirements at the end of your practice experience.
