Summary : This role will provide health and safety program officer for the company as well as provide direct health and safety guidance to Operations.
The HS Officer will have primary responsibility to design, adapt, implement and maintain the company’s health and safety management system.
The HS Officer will be responsible to understand HS compliance requirements in the jurisdictions where the company operates, build and manage the complementary HS programs, and advise project teams on HS specific standards and reporting.
The HS Officer will provide coaching to build HS capacity and capability within the company, project teams and the contractor workforce.
This role will report to the HS Lead. Key Responsibilities :
Oversee the physical security of all facilities. Evaluate the effectiveness of alarm systems and other security devices.
Ensure that safety equipment effectively protects employees, assets, and customers. Supervise and provide health and safety training.
Assess training needs and develop or lead programs to meet those needs. Ensure compliance with the company's policies and regulations.
Prepare and follow up on the various security audits according to the schedule. Ensure the certification of subcontractors and visitors in terms of health and safety and ensure training in the reception of the latter.
Attend training sessions to update technical and managerial knowledge as needed. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required.
Complete assigned special projects. Perform all other related tasks. QUALIFICATIONS Bilingual French and English Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of recent, related experience including construction, manufacturing, mineral exploration, mining or related field experience, University degree / Diploma in occupational health & safety;
or equivalent combination of training and experience. Candidates should be able to demonstrate an understanding of health and safety issues and risks in mineral exploration and knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, policies and practices.
In addition to the above, you will have :
EXPERIENCE Knowledge of provincial, federal, and local regulations. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Autonomy and organization.
