The Role
of Health & Safety Field Consultant
The position of Health & Safety Consultant is a field-based role. You will provide advice, field support, recommendations, solutions and documentation to Peninsula clients located in the Ottawa and surrounding areas as part of Peninsula’s Health & Safety Essentials service.
You will be expected to work from Monday to Friday. Your regular working hours will be from 9 : 00 to 5 : 30 , although applicants will need to be flexible as the needs of the business can change based on our client volume.
There is potential for upward mobility for successful hires. The position will also require the candidate to provide expert support to Peninsula’s health and safety advice team regarding issues and requirements so that proper advice and recommendations can be given to clients.
Day-to-Day Duties and Responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Proactively reaching out to clients to follow up regarding any advice, solutions, support or recommendations that are given
- Performing client installation visits
- Providing relevant and correct advice, support, solutions and recommendations to our clients in a professional, efficient and practical manner
- Liaising with government officials, and other third parties, on behalf of clients under the supervision of Peninsula’s management
- Completing internal reports following client visits
- Reading and analyzing a client’s policies and other related documentation for the purposes of providing advice, support, solutions and / or recommendations
- Advising clients on how to use Peninsula’s health and safety management system
- Achieving internal key performance indicators
Education / Experience
- A degree, diploma or certificate from an accredited education or health and safety training program
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in health and safety

- Very strong time management and organizational skills
- Experience in dealing with government enforcement agencies and other similar government bodies
- A high level of computer literacy
- Class G Driver’s license
