In this role, you will be a key player in implementing and monitoring health and safety initiatives at our sites, while contributing to the development of tools that foster a culture of safety in the workplace.

Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Specialist

• Serve as a resource person for prevention issues in the workplace and communicate good safety practices.
• Analyze accidents with the claims team and conduct investigations. Handle employee complaints.
• Participate in inspections and follow up non-conformities with appropriate parties.
• Be the main contact for Health and Safety issues in the region, including rights of refusal and Labour Canada visits.
• Co-chair the Health and Safety Committee and participate in the Policy Committee.

Qualifications of the Health and Safety Specialist

• 1 to 3 years experience in a unionized environment.
• Post-secondary education in health and safety, or equivalent work experience.
• Experience working in a federal jurisdiction is ideal.
• Familiar with and can apply applicable Federal legislation (CLC part II and COHSR);
