Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Specialist
- Serve as a resource person for prevention issues in the workplace and communicate good safety practices.
- Analyze accidents with the claims team and conduct investigations. Handle employee complaints.
- Participate in inspections and follow up non-conformities with appropriate parties.
- Be the main contact for Health and Safety issues in the region, including rights of refusal and Labour Canada visits.
- Co-chair the Health and Safety Committee and participate in the Policy Committee.
Qualifications of the Health and Safety Specialist
- 1 to 3 years experience in a unionized environment.
- Post-secondary education in health and safety, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience working in a federal jurisdiction is ideal.
- Familiar with and can apply applicable Federal legislation (CLC part II and COHSR);
