We are currently seeking a skilled General Maintenance Worker to join our residential maintenance team in Nanaimo , British Columbia .

Key Responsibilities :

• General building maintenance under close supervision .
• G rounds, maintenance and minor repair work .
• G eneral labour work as assigned by property and resident management team, including loading, unloading, moving materials and running errands .
• P ainting and drywall patching .
• Replac ing light bulbs / lamps , clean ing fixtures , and m ov ing furniture .
• Respond ing quickly to emergency situations and resident concerns .
• Monito ring landscaping, common area and parking facilities .
• Performing some janitorial duties as needed .
• Compl ying with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives as related to building operations and practices safe work habits .
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skillsets :

• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in maintenance work .
• Excellent interpersonal skills .
• Ab le to communicate effectively and work independently.
• May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority / emergency situations .
• May require shift work and / or on-call duties .
• Pass criminal background requirements .
• Must have a valid driver's license , clean driving recor d, and access to a reliable vehicle.
• Knowledge of older plumbing systems is considered an asset

Education and Experience :

• High school diploma or equivalent .
• 3-5 years of experience in facilities and building maintenance or relevant experience
• A Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing or Electrical will be considered an asset
