We are currently seeking a skilled General Maintenance Worker to join our residential maintenance team in Nanaimo , British Columbia .

Key Responsibilities :
- General building maintenance under close supervision .
- G rounds, maintenance and minor repair work .
- G eneral labour work as assigned by property and resident management team, including loading, unloading, moving materials and running errands .
- P ainting and drywall patching .
- Replac ing light bulbs / lamps , clean ing fixtures , and m ov ing furniture .
- Respond ing quickly to emergency situations and resident concerns .
- Monito ring landscaping, common area and parking facilities .
- Performing some janitorial duties as needed .
- Compl ying with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and company directives as related to building operations and practices safe work habits .
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skillsets :
- Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in maintenance work .
- Excellent interpersonal skills .
- Ab le to communicate effectively and work independently.
- May be required to work extended periods of time without relief when responding to priority / emergency situations .
- May require shift work and / or on-call duties .
- Pass criminal background requirements .
- Must have a valid driver's license , clean driving recor d, and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Knowledge of older plumbing systems is considered an asset
Education and Experience :
- High school diploma or equivalent .
- 3-5 years of experience in facilities and building maintenance or relevant experience
- A Certificate of Qualification in Plumbing or Electrical will be considered an asset
