Position Summary :

Reporting to the Production Foreman, the Forklift Driver will take charge of the inventory of all our structural steels materials in our outside yards.

Organizing and maintaining all stock in the proper racking system and will transports loads of various steel materials to each of the workstations on the production line.

This position is 50% of the time outside in our yard and 50% of the time inside the plant to ensure they have the proper materials for assembly.

Transport steel materials and pallets to prearranged staging area using sit down propane forklift. In addition, he / she ensures that all the tasks he / she performs are carried out in compliance with health and safety rules, laws and regulations as well as company policies.

More specifically, he / she is called upon to :

• Responsible of the inventory of all structural steel outside in the yards
• Organize and maintain all stock in the proper outside storage area
• Transport and feed the production lines with steel materials to various staging area using sit-down forklift
• Manually or using the forklift, sort and dispose of scrap materials in proper bin and areas
• Maintain the work floor and traffic area in a safe, clean and orderly condition
• Notify supervisory team of any production, inventory or quality problems
• Perform basic preventive maintenance on equipment as required
• Collaborate with the Health and Safety Committee to implement innovative solutions
• And all other related responsibilities

Profile required :

The candidate must be able to drive the forklift safely, make sure the inventory of material is accurate and organized at all time and ensure the production line doesn’t miss supplies.

We are looking for a person who demonstrate initiative and prioritize safe work, cooperation, transparency, rigor and respect.

Requirements and Skills :

• A valid forklift license is preferred
• Experience in driving a standard propane sit-down forklift
• Be able to work in the outdoor yard (snow, rain or shine) 50% of the time
• Ability to properly use tape measures in imperial (at ease with fractions of an inch, such as halves, quarters, eighths, or sixteenths)
• Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is an asset
• Punctual, reliable and professional
• Good knowledge of either French or English, oral and written (Bilingualism an asset)
• Ability to work safely at all times and a good sense of humor are essential!
