Permanent Full Time Brampton Site 37.5 hours / week Position Summary : ErinoakKids is currently recruiting for a dynamic individual to fill the role of Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) worker.

Reporting to a Clinical Services Supervisor at our Brampton, Peel Region location this individual will be responsible for : Key Responsibilities : Working in a consultative model with Peel children / youth with a confirmed FASD or suspected FASD diagnosis, and their families to develop support plans based on individual strengths and needs, and informed by the child / youth and family’s vision, goals and concerns.

Supporting connections to a variety of supports and other services (as available) and, provide information to families as pre- and post-diagnosis support.

Working with service providers and educators in supporting child / youth to build capacity and identify strategies to meet the needs of the child / youth.

Providing information to parents, caregivers and school personnel through webinars and presentations. Working with youth, and their family and service providers across sectors to plan for a transition from child and youth services to adult services, if required.

At a local system level, work to improve awareness of FASD and to identify gaps and opportunities for improving supports for FASD.

Engaging with different cultural groups (e.g. Indigenous, francophone). Facilitate parent-to-parent connections. Participating in provincially-offered training to increase their own and their organization’s capacity to support children and youth with FASD and their families.

  • Qualifications : Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree and minimum three years’ work OR equivalent experience with vulnerable or at-risk populations including special needs Demonstrated experience working with children / youth with FASD and their families Preference for candidates with behavioral background and experience working with children / youth FASD Understanding of the services and supports available to children with FASD in Peel Region Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a cross-sector team Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle Solid ability to work in an inter-professional team to create and maintain strong relationships across the organizational and community Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal, written and oral);
  • able to communicate verbally and in one on one or group situations; ability to communicate in writing by composing clear documents;

and the ability to synthesize complex or new ideas into clear messages Demonstrated skill in group facilitation with the ability to lead and motivate others through a team oriented approach Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple assignments simultaneously and to adapt quickly to change Demonstrated delivery of customer service focus when working with internal and external stakeholders Join us on our mission to make a difference and impact on the lives of children and youth with disabilities.
