We are actively seeking a Facilities Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Tucker Thermal team in Calgary. Reporting to the Team Lead, Facilities Tucker, the EIT will work with the Tucker Facilities Engineering team to support and coordinate project planning & execution, drive technical requirements of projects and ensure code & regulatory compliance.
Additionally, the EIT will support Operations by providing technical support in areas of trouble-shooting, risk analysis, de-bottlenecking and optimization.
Essential Functions :
Develop and design oil production facilities including SAGD multi-well pads, compressors, pumps, separators, storage tanks, and pipeline systems.
Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost-benefit analyses for new and existing facilities.
Manage facility engineering projects from inception to completion, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
Prepare Project Charters, Project Execution Plans, and other technical documents.
Monitor and enforce the corporate Health, Safety, Environment, and Regulatory (HSER) requirements.
Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulations, company policies and project specifications.
Collaborate with internal stakeholder teams including but not limited to HSER, Development, Production Operations, and Capital Operations.
Interface with third party engineering and construction contractors to ensure that design and execution expectations are met.
Participate in 3D model reviews and Process Hazard Analysis (e.g., What-if, Risk Assessment, HAZOP etc.).
Facilitate and participate in system walkdowns, and pre safety startup reviews (PSSRs).
Assist in monitoring and surveillance of pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
Provide technical support and troubleshooting for operations and maintenance as required.
Champion the Management of Change (MOC) process.
Qualifications Include :
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering.
Registration or eligibility to be registered with APEGA as an engineer-in-training (EIT) by May 2024.
Minimum of 2 years of related experience.
Familiarity with steam-assisted-gravity-drainage (SAGD) considered an asset.
Previous work experience in the oil and gas industry (co-op, internship, operations, etc.) considered an asset.
Work Environment
Office based role located in Calgary
Periodic travel to site required to support project execution.
