PURPOSE STATEMENT :

The Distribution Planner is accountable for the day-to-day activities required to create and maintain a detailed Finished Goods distribution plan, closing of third-party sales orders, inventory management at the 3PL, assisting the Replenishment Planner, processing issues related to inventory transfers, and is also the point person within the supply organization to resolve system and process issues.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :

  • Create and maintain Distribution Orders (DO) and Intercompany Orders (INT) for all sites.
  • Work closely with Production Scheduler to update the DOs based on the latest production plan.
  • Communicate supply issues, deviations from the distribution and transfer plans and potential resolutions, and adjust DO / INT accordingly based on supply and warehouse utilization.
  • Act as the primary interface with customer service, production and logistics related to Finished Goods (FG) Inventory transfers.
  • Measure weekly schedule performance to standards.
  • Maintain accuracy of parameters used in transferring FG across sites.
  • Analyze fill rate issues related to product transfers and work with the team to reach resolution.
  • Ensure accuracy of inventory data for all 3PLs in coordination with Customer Service
  • Close sales orders on a daily basis and ensure that there are no pending open orders by end of the week across all sites.
  • Assist Replenishment Planner to create and maintain orders.
  • Assist on periodic reports generation.
  • Process improvement ideation and implementation relating to efficiency of 3PL transactions and communication.
  • Monitor EDI transactions with 3PLs and perform root cause analysis of any recurring issues.
  • Ensure all 3PL transactions are posted in accurate and timely fashion.
  • Cover for team mates when on vacation / off-work.
  • Other duties as required.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE :

  • 3-5 years related experience preferred
  • Exposure or experience working in an ERP planning environment
  • Familiar with scheduling and inventory management principles
  • Familiar with warehouse and transportation operations
  • Ability to create weekly distribution and transfer orders

EDUCATION :

Post-secondary education with confirmed graduation required (in a related field

preferred)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • APICS modules or certification (ie. CPIM) is an asset
