Position Overview :
Seeking an experienced Companion for a residence in Kingston. While the Companion is the primary service provider in the household, they will work with a small team of part-time staff and external contractors who support various aspects of the household.
This role is primarily focused on supporting the principal, but would also provide basic daily tidying, basic cooking, and administrative duties.
This position is full-time, live-in. A typical work week is Monday to Friday, 9am 6pm. Flexibility outside of this schedule is required as needed when travelling with the principal.
Candidate Profile :
You are a well-rounded Companion with a do what it takes attitude. You understand the role of professionalism and boundaries in a private home, can read a room, and anticipate needs.
You are comfortable in the kitchen and can demonstrate good home cooking skills. When it comes to administrative duties your organizational skills are solid, you have experience and strength with technology and productivity tools like Word and Excel.
You are comfortable managing calendars and schedules, making sure your principal gets to where he needs to be.
Primary Responsibilities :
- Managing the principal’s schedules and calendars
- Travel planning, organizing, and coordination
- Daily cooking and food preparation for the principal with a focus on providing complete, healthy meals; a Mediterranean diet is the preferred cuisine
- Laundry for the principal and household
- Ensure principal receives daily medication
- Arranging appointments for personal and professional needs
- Greeting of guests and visitors, answering telephone, and taking messages, general mail and correspondence
- Management of household inventories and implementation of organizational strategies
- Ensure all household mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, equipment and fixtures are in good working order
- Assist with the ordering and purchasing of household inventories
- Ensure household security protocols are followed
- Running errands and performing necessary tasks like grocery shopping
- Assist with care of the household dog
Applicant Qualities :
- Be a self-starter with an anticipatory, service-oriented disposition
- Must possess excellent time management skills, be punctual, courteous, possess keen attention to detail and follow through on all tasks and projects assigned
- Must have a sense and respect of boundaries, exercise diplomacy, discretion and confidentiality
- A driver's license and clean driving record is required
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- A current passport is required
