About

We are looking for a BIM Coordinator to join our Vancouver office to help shape the way we design excellence.

The BIM Coordinator will work in collaboration with the other BIM Coordinators and BIM Managers to help us improve our project workflows, software adherence and library content.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and standards across multiple projects.

This role requires a deep understanding of BIM technologies, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various project teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the BIM coordination process across all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Support the development and implementation of BIM standards, protocols, and workflows
  • Develop project specific content (family) library.
  • Provide training and support to project teams on BIM tools and processes.
  • Collaborate with the BIM team to improve DSA’s current Revit template.
  • Ensure standards defined on the project BIM Execution Plan and project workflows are adhered to.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the BIM team.
  • Manage project models to ensure a healthy BIM database.
  • Conduct Clash-detection and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct model data extraction for CoBie and dRofus.
  • Be an advocate for Digital Fabrication in the studio.
  • Work closely to assist project teams and guide staff, as required, to produce fabrication-ready digital models.
  • Operate and guide teams on the operation of equipment in the Digital Fabrication space.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2-year College diploma or University degree from a recognized architectural program.
  • 4 years progressive work experience in an architectural office or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in BIM software, including Revit, Navisworks.
  • Ability to read 2D working drawings.
  • Understanding of common building components and how they are assembled to form a complete building.
  • Strong understanding of BIM standards and protocols, such as ISO 19650.
  • Multitasking, and project management skills
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Comfortable communicating in working groups of diverse sizes.
  • BIM visual programming platforms such as Dynamo are an asset.
  • Understanding BIM for Facility Management is a benefit, but not a requirement.
  • Understanding Digital Fabrication / 3D Model Printing is an asset.
  • Experience in construction of architectural models and fabricated elements at a variety of scales, including model building materials and techniques.
  • Experience in translating and rebuilding digital models from Revit, Rhino, FormIt and AutoCAD to proper file formats for 3D printing and laser cutting.
  • Experience with 3D printing (PLA as main focus, other types considered an asset) and laser cutting.
  • Photography and documentation experience an asset.
  • Good understanding of health and safety protocols and record keeping.
